Squalicum
Lake is a peaceful, 35 acre, no motor lake. Fishermen in Northwest Washington
have a smorgasbord of opportunities to exercise their skills and one
of those places is right here. But don't bring your spinning rod, as
we're flyfishing only.
At
the cottage, you're a mere 150 feet off the lakefront so it's only a
minute's walk to take the rowboat out to explore the lake or 'wet a
line.' The lake is stocked with cutthroat, brown and rainbow trout and
has been written up in many books including Fly Fishing In America and
Washington Fishing.
Alongside
the cottage is a 26,000 gallon pond, landscaped with a wide variety
of plants. Nightly you will hear the 'frog chorale' in full swing as
they have made the pond their home. During the day you might spot a
kingfisher looking for a bite to eat…or a pair of mallard ducks
who've stopped by to visit. Everywhere you turn Mother Nature is providing
a visual feast.
